Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town, now known as the “Gateway to Africa” but as recently as 350 years ago, was known to be the “Cape of Storms” by passing sailors. As early Seafarers became dependent upon the fresh Food & Water found on the slopes of Table Mountain, Cape Town and Table Bay became known as “The Fairest Cape – The Cape of Good Hope”.

Day 1
Arrival

Upon arrival at Cape town International Airport, you will be met by Day Safaris Adventures representative who will transfer you to your pre-booked hotel. Overnight at Capetown.

Day 2
Half Day City Tour

After breakfast at the hotel, you will take a cable car to the summit of the legendary Table Mountain, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, with views of the City and surrounding layout of this southernmost tip of Africa. We drive to Camps Bay, an affluent ocean-side suburb of Cape Town, boasting a magnificent white sandy beach and once the hunting ground of Lord Charles Somerset. Wind your way along through Clifton, an exclusive residential area, home to some of the most expensive real estate in South Africa before meandering through Sea Point, the first ‘commuter suburb’ of Cape Town and now a recognized Orthodox Jewish community. En route we’ll see the sweeping silhouette of the Cape Town Stadium before passing down Adderley Street considered the main street of the central business district. The City Hall located on the Grand Parade is next up. Nelson Mandela made his first public speech after his release from the balcony of Cape Town City Hall. Drive past the Castle of Good Hope, a Provisional Heritage Site. The Castle of Good Hope was originally built as a maritime replenishment station and is the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa! We’re passing Charly’s Bakery, home of Charly’s Cake Angels, stars of the Food Network Show before hearing a brief history of District Six en-route to a visit at the Company Gardens. The public section of the garden is enjoyed for its sheer floral beauty as well as its historical setting.

Day 3
Full Day Walk to Freedom Tour

Experience the wonderful raw energy of our Townships in one unforgettable morning. An opening history visiting the previous location of the District Six Site, leads to the oldest township Langa and its people. What a vibe, what positivity, a ‘Rainbow Nation’ in-deed. Strolling through Langa Township, pop in to a ‘shebeen’ (pub), observing the difference in housing quality and witnessing real progress being made in providing decent housing, new developments as well as the restoration of the old single quarters. Then from Langa to Khayelitsha the new kid on the block, the largest in Western Cape all swagger and strut. Large scale developments abound, housing, schools, shopping malls, clinics and many private organisations doing a marvellous job in providing social and other skills to the people at large. Enjoy a visit to Robben Island in the afternoon (weather permitting), cruel home of our Nelson Mandela for so many years, it’s a highly charged and emotional moment when you visit the site of this suffering, and realize how far South Africa has come from those days.

Day 4
Full Day Winelands Tour

A superb day dedicated to celebrating the glorious grape, the exceptional Winelands region, and the heavenly scenery! The area’s rich with history, and we can’t help but feel it as we move through the region to experience a wine cellar tour and tasting, where you’ll learn all about the process of wine making, from grape to goblet. We visit the exquisite little town of Franschhoek, pass by the impressive Huguenot Monument, and in a town with a reputation for gourmet fare, where else could we choose to enjoy lunch (for own account). Wind our way to the heady heights of the Helshoogte Mountain Pass to meet the charming university town of Stellenbosch on the other side.
Stroll through this little town, absorbing the quaintness, and sneaking into the odd shop or two! Enjoy a wine tasting at two different wine estates where you’ll be able to purchase your favourite wine to take back home!

Day 5
