DAY 1 - NAIROBI ARRIVAL AND NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK

In the afternoon depart for Nairobi National Park - the world's only national park within a capital city. DAY 2 - DRIVE TO LAKE NAKURU, AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE

Stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint on the escarpment for panoramic views across the valley floor - one of Kenya's most photographed landscapes.

Arrive at Lake Nakuru in time for lunch at your lodge, then depart for an afternoon game drive through the park. Lake Nakuru is Kenya's best rhino sanctuary. Both black and white rhino are present in significant numbers making afternoon sightings highly likely with an experienced guide.

Lions and leopards are also regularly sighted - leopards particularly in the dense forest along the lake's southern shore. Rothschild giraffes move gracefully through the yellow fever acacia woodlands along the lake edge.

DAY 3 - FULL DAY LAKE NAKURU

A full day exploring Lake Nakuru National Park. Depart before sunrise for the morning game drive when rhinos are often most active in the open areas near the lake edge. The morning light on the flamingos and the lake surface is extraordinary for photography.

Lake Nakuru's compact size - 188 square kilometres - means you can cover the entire park in a day and revisit your favourite areas multiple times. Your guide will focus on your specific wildlife interests, whether rhino tracking, lion sightings, or bird watching.

After lunch at your lodge, a relaxed afternoon drive focuses on the lake's northern sections and the acacia woodland areas where buffalo herds and warthog families are commonly encountered.

DAY 4 - TRANSFER TO MASAI MARA, AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE

DAY 5 - FULL DAY MASAI MARA

DAY 6 - FULL DAY MASAI MARA, OPTIONAL HOT AIR BALLOON SAFARI

Today is your second full day in the Masai Mara. If you have booked the optional hot air balloon safari this morning will be extraordinary. Depart camp at 5am to meet your balloon crew at the launch site. As the sun rises you float silently above the Masai Mara plains watching wildlife below - elephant herds, buffalo, lions, and the Mara River meandering through the landscape. The balloon lands in the bush for a champagne breakfast served on linen-set tables in the middle of the wilderness.

For those not taking the balloon safari, a full morning game drive focuses on the areas your guide has identified as most active from previous days. Repeat visits to productive areas often yield the most rewarding sightings - returning to a cheetah family from yesterday, or finding lions with a fresh kill from the night.

Afternoon drive covers different areas of the reserve. If your visit falls between July and October your guide will take you to the Mara River crossing points where wildebeest herds gather on the banks before making their dramatic plunge across.

DAY 7 - MASAI MARA AND MAASAI VILLAGE CULTURAL VISIT

Arrive at your Amboseli camp in the late afternoon. Time for a short game drive as the elephants move toward their evening grazing areas. DAY 9 - FULL DAY AMBOSELI

A full day exploring Amboseli National Park. Depart before sunrise for the morning drive when Kilimanjaro is typically at its clearest before clouds build around the summit. Position yourself at Observation Hill or beside the park's famous swamps where enormous elephant herds congregate.

Amboseli's elephants are the stars. Research has been ongoing here for over 50 years and the families are completely habituated to vehicles - allowing encounters at close range that feel more like watching a wildlife documentary than a traditional safari. A matriarch leading her family across the swamp, calves playing in the mud, and old bulls standing motionless in the morning light with the mountain behind them is pure Africa.
